This course is designed to provide the learner with a broad overview of the historical development of Higher Education with a concentration on American Higher Education and its growth and development since the founding of Harvard in 1636. In Addition, the learner will seek to understand the traditional and contemporary roles of American institutions of Postsecondary education. Emphasis will also be placed upon the emergence of the “American” university from its roots in Europe.
